The Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Ireland presented his credentials

The new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Ireland, Mr Louis Telemachou, presented his credentials to the President of Ireland, Mr Michael D. Higgins at a ceremony held on Friday 10 November 2023, at the Aras an Uachtarain in Dublin.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Telemachou conveyed the heartfelt greetings and personal commitment of the President of the Republic, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, to further deepen the already excellent relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Telemachou referred to the traditionally excellent relations between Cyprus and Ireland, which have been further strengthened by their status as EU member states. He also expressed the sincere thanks of Cyprus for the principled stance taken by Ireland on the Cyprus questions and in favour of the respect for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus. In this context, he expressed the deep gratitude of the Cypriot Government and the Cypriot people for the longstanding participation of Irish peacekeepers in UNFICYP.
President Higgins wished the new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus every success in his mission. In this regard, he assured the Ambassador that he will have his own as well as his Government’s full support, for the benefit of the relations between the two countries.
