6 December 2022 - Ambassador, Mr. Haralambos Kafkarides, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Rumen Radev



On December 2, Mr. Haralambos Kafkarides presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Rumen Radev, as the new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus.

Ambassador Kafkarides conveyed warm greetings by President Nicos Anastasiades and referred to the historically strong relations between the two countries, as well as to the prospects for their further enhancement. He thanked Mr. Radev for Bulgaria's long-standing support of the efforts to resolve the Cyprus issue.

The President of Bulgaria wished every success to the new Ambassador, stressing the excellent level of relations between the two countries. He also emphasised the prospects of further deepening regional cooperation, where Bulgaria and Cyprus can play an important role.

President Radev referred to the importance of the large Bulgarian community in Cyprus, as well as the significant number of Cypriots who studied and continue to study in Bulgaria, contributing effectively in deepening bilateral relations.

He stated that Bulgaria maintains a principled stance on the Cyprus issue and expressed the wish that a solution would be reached.

The Ambassador stated that among his priorities will be the promotion of more contacts in the educational and cultural field. He emphasised that the two countries are connected by many common cultural and historical bonds, on which their strong friendship is based.
