The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) presents his credentials

The High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to the United Kingdom, Dr Kyriacόs Kouros, presented on 9 May 2024, his credentials to the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Mr Arsenio Dominguez, as the new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to IMO, during a private meeting at the organization’s headquarters in London.

During the meeting, Dr Kouros conveyed to Secretary General Dominguez the warm greetings of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, underlining his full support to the work carried out by IMO.   He also conveyed the Government’s commitment in continuing the close cooperation with the organization.  In addition, he briefed the Secretary General on the latest developments in the Cyprus problem and the efforts of President Christodoulides for the restart of the negotiations with the aim of finding a solution and reunifying Cyprus.

The IMO Secretary General welcomed Dr Kouros and wished him every success in carrying out his diplomatic mission.  Referring to Cyprus as an important partner, he thanked Dr Kouros for the exemplary cooperation between Cyprus and IMO over the years.  During the meeting, both sides confirmed their commitment towards further strengthening the relations between Cyprus and the International Maritime Organization.
