First annual review of the UK-Cyprus bilateral memorandum of understanding establishing a strategic cooperation
In the context of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a Strategic Cooperation between the Republic of Cyprus and the United Kingdom, the first Annual Review between the two countries took place on Thursday, 14 December 2023 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nicosia. The meeting was chaired, on behalf of Cyprus by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Kyriacόs Kouros, and on behalf of the United Kingdom, the Director General for Europe of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Mr Peter Wilson.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the implementation of the provisions of the MoU, and agreed on the next steps of cooperation in a wide range of areas, as described in the Joint Communiqué which was agreed during the meeting. The cooperation focuses, amongst others, on security, education, trade, shipping and climate change.
