Τhe High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to the Republic of India presents his credentials

The new High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to the Republic of India, Mr Evagoras Vryonides presented on 23 October 2023, his credentials to the President of India, Mrs Droupadi Murmu, during an official ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan Cultural Centre in New Delhi.

High Commissioner Vryonides conveyed to President Murmu, the warm greetings of the President of the Republic Mr Nikos Christodoulides, and expressed Cyprus’ sincere appreciation for the principled stance of the Government of India regarding the Cyprus question and for the respect of the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus. In this context, he expressed the Cyprus Government’s gratitude for the longstanding participation of Indian peacekeepers in UNFICYP.

The High Commissioner also underlined Cyprus’ readiness to sign Memorandums of Understanding on Migration and Mobility, and on Information Technologies with India. In addition, he referred to Cyprus’ decision to participate in the International Solar Alliance (ISA), and underscored Cyprus’ strong support to the EU-India Strategic Partnership.

Referring to the excellent level of bilateral relations between the two countries, both President Murmu and High Commissioner Vryonides emphasised the need to further strength and expand business and economic cooperation in sectors of common interest, including energy, investments, and tourism.
