The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the US Secretary of State hold telephone conversation
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Constantinos Kombos spoke with US Secretary of State Mr Antony J. Blinken, today via phone, at the initiative of the US Secretary of State.
The two Ministers exchanged views on ways to further deepen the strategic cooperation between Cyprus and the US, the Cyprus question, Ukraine, as well as the important role played by Cyprus as a pillar of stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.
In particular, the two had the opportunity to exchange views on the efforts of the President of the Republic Mr Nikos Christodoulides, to restart negotiations on the Cyprus question, within the agreed framework as it is described in relevant UN Security Council resolutions. They also reviewed the framework of Cyprus-US cooperation, including the 3+1 political format, which represents a tangible commitment to regional peace, security, and stability.----------------------- 07 August 2023
