Press release regarding the participation of the Foreign Minister in the EU Foreign Affairs Council


The Foreign Minister, Mr. Ioannis Kasoulidis, will travel on Sunday to Brussels, where he will participate in the EU Foreign Affairs Council on Monday, May 16.

The Foreign Ministers will exchange views on the situation in the Western Balkans and will examine ways to strengthen EU political engagement in specific areas. They will also discuss the latest developments in Ukraine in light of the ongoing Russian invasion, in the presence of the Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Canada.

Afterwards, the Foreign Ministers will hold a working lunch attended by the Foreign Ministers of Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Northern Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania, with the main topic of discussion being the West Balkans.

Before the Council meeting, the Foreign Minister will attend the EU-Canada Ministerial Meeting in the presence of Canada’s Foreign Minister, Melanie Joly, where they will exchange views on EU-Canada relations and other current regional and global issues of interest.

On the sidelines of the Foreign Affairs Council, Mr. Kasoulides will hold a bilateral meeting with the Foreign Minister of Serbia, Mr. Nikola Selaković.

The Foreign Minister will leave Brussels on Tuesday night for Prague, for a working visit, which is part of the bilateral coordination and consultation in view of the forthcoming assumption of the Presidency of the EU Council by the Czech Republic.
