Press Release concerning the meetings of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Ioannis Kasoulides in Saudi Arabia

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ioannis Kasoulides, concluded a series of meetings yesterday in Saudi Arabia, where he accompanied the President of the Republic during his official visit to the Kingdom.

Following the end of the official engagements of the President of the Republic, Mr. Kasoulides held separate meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, as well as with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Adel al-Jubeir.

The Foreign Minister's deliberations focused on bilateral relations and the prospect of their further deepening in a wide range of sectors such as the economy, trade and investment, developments in the Eastern Mediterranean region and the wider Middle East, the Cyprus problem and the proposals of the Cyprus government in the context of the Confidence Building Measures, EU-Saudi Arabia relations, as well as other regional and international issues of common interest such as the developments in Ukraine.

In addition, developments in Syria, Lebanon and Yemen were reviewed, and views were exchanged on tackling terrorism, organized crime and violent extremism. The contacts highlighted the need to expand and deepen the cooperation between Cyprus and Saudi Arabia, with the aim of enhancing multilateralism, cooperation, as well as conditions of security and stability for the States and peoples of the region.

During his stay in Riyadh, Mr. Kasoulides gave interviews to representatives of local media.
