22 Nov. 2021 - Team MFA and Friends brave the elements in yesterday's Larnaka Marathon, supporting the work of the Sophia for Children Foundation



Team 'MFA and Friends', led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Christodoulides and comprising members of our staff as well as foreign Ambassadors to Cyprus, diplomats and members of staff of foreign Diplomatic Missions accredited to Cyprus, took part in the Larnaka Marathon yesterday, Sunday, braving the wet weather conditions. 

The 68 members of the team, hailing from 23 different countries, took part in the 5k, 10k and half-Marathon races, raising awareness and support for the work of the Sophia for Children Foundation.

The Ministry of Foriegn Affairs expresses its warm appreciation to all members of the team for their enthousiastic participation, which sent a strong message that when we work together we can make a difference.      

In a statement to the Cyprus News Agency after finishing his race, Minister Christodoulidis said that "we chose to run the Marathon to help the Sophia for Children Foundation, which carries out remarkable work in Africa, promoting through its actions the name of our country. That is why we are here to support this very important effort through the Larnaca Marathon, which has attracted a lot of runners from abroad as well".
