Press release regarding the Foreign Minister’s departure for Brussels to participate in tomorrow’s General Affairs Council

Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides departs for Brussels tonight, where tomorrow, Tuesday (23/11), he is due to take part in the General Affairs Council of the European Union.

During the Council's session, participating Ministers are expected to prepare the upcoming European Council in December, and adopt Conclusions on strengthening the EU’s preparedness, response capability and resilience to future crises.

Furthermore, Ministers will exchange views on Enlargement and the Stabilization and Association Process, and will discuss any prospects for progress on related issues by the end of the year, following the relevant discussions that took place at the recent Foreign Affairs Council and the adoption of the Enlargement Package for the year 2021.

Finally, the political dialogue regarding the Annual Report on the Implementation of the Rule of Law in the Member States will continue, with the presentation tomorrow of the reports of Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia and Lithuania. A briefing on the state of play in EU-UK relations will be provided by the European Commission, followed by a discussion.
