10 Mar. 2021 - FM Christodoulides to welcome Croatian counterpart Gordan Grlić Radman tomorrow in Nicosia for bilateral consultations



Press release regarding the deliberations that the Minister of Foreign Affairs will have tomorrow (11/3) with his Croatian counterpart 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, will meet tomorrow, Thursday, March 11, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of Croatia, Mr. Gordan Grlić Radman, who will pay a working visit to Cyprus.

In the framework of the deliberations that the two Ministers will hold, first in a tête-à-tête meeting and then in extended consultations with the participation of official delegations, Mr. Christodoulides will have the opportunity to upodate his Croatian counterpart on the latest developments with regard to the Cyprus problem, in light of the ongoing initiative of the UN Secretary-General aimed at the resumption of negotiations for its settlement on the basis of the bizonal, bicommunal federation.

During the consultations, Ministers Christodoulides and Radman are expected to consider ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between Cyprus and Croatia in a number of areas, including research and innovation, shipping, tourism and entrepreneurship. They will also have the opportunity to discuss issues of European interest, with a focus on the containment of the pandemic, EU-Turkey relations, Migration, Enlargement, and the Conference on the Future of Europe. Furthermore, they will exchange views on regional issues of common interest, including developments in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region and the Western Balkans.

The two Ministers will then sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia on Political Consultations.
