Press Release regarding the Foreign Minister's departure for a working visit to Portugal Lisbon

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides travels to Lisbon tonight, for a working visit, coinciding also with the assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union by Portugal, on January 1.

During the visit, Mr. Christodoulides will have a tête-à-tête meeting with his Portuguese counterpart, Mr. Augusto Santos Silva, followed by extended consultations with the participation of official delegations.

Talks are expected to focus on Cyprus-Portugal bilateral relations and their further enhancement, on the latest developments in the Cyprus problem in light of the UN Secretary-General's initiative, on important issues from the EU agenda, such as the tackling of the pandemic, developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and EU-Turkey relations, strengthening cooperation within the Med7 and the Southern Neighborhood frameworks, Migration, as well as on issues relating to the priorities set by the Portuguese Presidency for current semester.

After the end of their deliberations, the two Ministers will make statements to the media (at 18.30 Cyprus time).
