In an Announcement issued today, the Presidency of the Republic describes the announced presence of the President of Turkey at the celebrations of the 37th anniversary of the declaration of the illegal regime in Turkish occupied Cyprus and his visit to the fenced area of Varosha tomorrow as a provocation without precedent, that flagrantly violates UN Security Council resolutions 550 and 789.

At the same time, Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots alike, ordinary people and organized groups, strongly condemn and are protesting against the Turkish President's illegal and provocative visit to the fenced area of Varosha where he is dut to have 'a picnic'.
