Call for expression of interest for the EU Election Observation Mission to Ιraq
The European Commission has initiated the selection procedure for long-term observers for the Election Observation Mission to Iraq to observe the upcoming Parliamentary Elections, scheduled to take place on 10 October 2021. The observers will be requested to stay for 45 days in Iraq. The Note of the European Commission on this deployment and the Terms of Reference for the Observers are available from the links below.
Qualified Cypriot candidates who are members of the Roster and are interested to participate to this EU mission should contact the Department for Multilateral Affairs and International Organizations (A1) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by e-mail at nargyrides@mfa.gov.cy, at the latest by 11 August 2021.
Due to prevailing security conditions on the ground the mission will enforce a strict security protocol. The deployment, will be re-assessed in light of developments on the ground, including the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic and it might be modified or cancelled.
Candidates with pre-existing/chronic illnesses who are at risk of developing serious complications when they contract COVID-19, are encouraged to discuss the issue with their doctor. Also, the Mission highly recommends vaccination against COVID-19.
