Avoid non-essential travel

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against all non-essential travel to Sri Lanka due to the ongoing severe economic crisis, social unrest and shortages in basic goods, including food, fuel, and medicine. The security situation in Sri Lanka is unstable and violent incidents have occurred during recent demonstrations.

Cypriot citizens in Sri Lanka should follow the instructions of local authorities, carry with them at all times all relevant identification and travel documentation and inform themselves of any restrictions on movement put in place by closely following local media.

Protests, demonstrations and crowds must be avoided.

Cypriot citizens in Sri Lanka are urged to register with the online platform and send their personal and contact details to the High Commission of Cyprus in New Delhi with a copy to the Honorary Consul of Cyprus in Sri Lanka in the following email addresses:
