In the light of the latest developments in relation to the identification of a new variant (Omicron) of the coronavirus SARS-COV-2 in a number of countries in the southern part of the African continent, it is recommended that Cypriot citizens avoid, until further notice, all non-essential travel to the following countries: Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Citizens of the Republic of Cyprus who are currently located in these countries are encouraged to contact the High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in Pretoria (South Africa), and are advised to follow local and international media on the latest developments regarding COVID-19, to adhere to the relevant instructions of authorities locally including restrictions or guidance concerning COVID-19 and to take self-protection measures.
Cypriot citizens who are currently abroad, or intend to travel abroad for any reason, are encouraged to register on the website www.connect2cy.gov.cy.It should be noted that passengers intending to arrive/return to Cyprus will be required to comply with the applicable process, register at https://cyprusflightpass.gov.cy and meet the requirements for entry to Cyprus foreseen by relevant Decrees and Decisions of the Council of Ministers.
It is further pointed out that the entry into the Republic of any person who during the last 14 days before his arrival in the Republic either resided or passed through the territory of the countries listed above is governed by the conditions mentioned in the relevant Press Release issued by the Ministry of Health on 26 November 2021.
